Direct Notice to Parents

By completing the Parental Verification Methods either through a payment card or by entering the last 4 digits of my Social Security number, I hereby authorize Sage Social, Inc. (“Sage Social”) to collect, use, and disclose personal information collected from my child. Such collection, use, and disclosure are necessary for my child to use the Sage Chat service, as described below and in Sage Social’s children’s privacy policy .

Direct Notice of Sage Social’s Data Collection and Disclosure Practices

Your consent is required for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from your child on Sage Chat. We will not collect, use, or disclose any personal information from your child if you do not provide such consent.

We may collect the following information from your child when they use Sage Chat:

  • Information about your child’s communications on Sage Chat, including messages, photos, or videos that your child sends to other users. Our service providers also collect this information in order to help us provide our services, to identify and filter potentially harmful content, and to provide parents and children with product features related to their messages.

  • Information about your child’s interactions on Sage Chat, like the pages or other content they view, people with whom they communicate, and the dates and times of their visits.

  • Information about the child’s device, such as browser type and the nature of the device from which the child is using Sage Chat.

  • Persistent identifiers associated with your child’s device, such as IP address and mobile device identifiers.

We may disclose the information we collect from your child in the following circumstances:

  • Parents have the ability to monitor their kids’ use of our services, including viewing the messages and content their kids send and receive, accessing summaries or highlights of those messages, and viewing the identity of other kids who have communicated or requested to communicate with their kids.

  • When children send messages to other users through our Services, those other users will receive the messages and any other content sent and will be able to see the profile of the child who sent the message. Your child’s profile will be searchable and viewable by users who have the same school listed in their profile, and those users can send and receive messages with your child by default. We provide privacy settings that allow you to individually approve each user that can communicate with your child.

  • We share information with third-party service providers (e.g., data storage and processing facilities) that assist us in providing Sage Chat.

  • We disclose messages and content that your child sends and receives to vendors that provide artificial intelligence content moderation services that support our Services.

  • We may share information with an acquirer, successor, or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, or similar transaction, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which personal information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.

  • We may share information if we believe that doing so is legally required, or is in our interest to protect our property or other legal rights (including, but not limited to, enforcement of our agreements), or the rights or property of others, or otherwise to help protect the safety or security of Sage Chat and other users of Sage Chat.
