Kid group chats often begin in elementary school on watches, tablets and phones. In these group chats, kids are frequently exposed to online bullying, inappropriate content and are getting addicted to checking their devices constantly.  We created Sage Chat so kids can have fun chatting with close friends in a safe, kinder way.

Sage Chat is a safe, kinder chat app designed for kids. Harmful messages, links, and pictures are blocked before they are sent. Kids are nudged towards best practices and kindness. Parents have the option to supervise easily from their own phones with alerts and recaps.

Sage Parents and Sage Chat are run by the same company. Sage Parents has a free parent guidebook with recommended steps for navigating technology choices for elementary school-aged kids and helps parents build collective action. Sage Chat is a technology solution that enables kids to chat online safely. Both are deeply committed to the well-being of kids.

Yes, Sage Chat is totally free and we don’t run ads or sell your data.

We are working hard to build an amazing app that kids adore and parents trust. This takes time, so at the beginning, we are launching our pilot to select early access users only. Please sign up for early access and we’ll continue to open the app to more users on the list systematically.

We are currently iOS only so Sage Chat works across iPads, Apple Watches, and iPhones. We will be launching Android devices next so sign up for early access and stay tuned.

Parents download the Sage Chat app to their own phone and set up their family's account. Every kid account must be linked to a verified parent account for safety and security. After set-up, the parent will download the Sage Chat app on their kids devices where the kids can immediately begin chatting with approved friends.

With Sage Chat, kids are issued a secure number so approved family members can add them as a Contact and chat with them from their existing messaging platforms like iMessage, Google Messages, etc. Kids will receive these messages in Sage Chat and be able to chat once the parent has approved the Contact. Kids will chat with each other using the Sage Chat app.

Sage Chat was specifically designed for kid’s safety. Every kid account must be linked to a verified parent account. Parents approve who their kid can chat with, set usage limits, and have the option to easily supervise the chats from their own phones with alerts and recaps.

Sage Chat also uses sophisticated AI moderation designed to block harmful messages, links, and photos before they are even sent and nudge kids towards best practices and kindness.

Your kid can only chat with parent-approved friends and family.

All Sage Parents users must provide the name of their child’s school, and we only allow Sage Chat users to search for and view the profiles of other Sage Chat users that have provided the same school name in their profile. Each kid will have a unique QR code that parents can share with other parents to connect their kid with other friends from teams, other schools, cousins, etc. on Sage Chat. Kids are also issued a secure number so approved family members can chat with them from their existing messaging platforms like iMessage, Google Messages, etc. Kids will receive these messages in Sage Chat and be able to chat once the parent has approved the Contact. Kids will chat with each other using the Sage Chat app.

Safety and privacy of personal information is top priority for us. Parents provide their kid’s first name and the first initial of their last name along with their age, grade, school name and a real photo to ensure other parents are approving connections with the correct friend. None of the kids information will be visible to anyone outside of their school or without their unique QR code.

We collect the least amount of information needed for a good user experience and use best practices to keep the limited data we do store safe. We do not run ads or sell your personal information. We make it easy to delete your account and data history. We conduct Parent Verification on every parent through a payment card or SSN verification process to ensure kids aren't setting up fake accounts and to ensure we are COPPA compliant.
